The Carl M. Freeman Foundation is proud to announce the opening of grant opportunities for nonprofit organizations located in and serving Sussex County, Delaware.  Funding is available through the FACES (Freeman Assists Communities with Extra Support) Grants Program, which targets small organizations with operating budgets of $500,000 or less, which are often overlooked by funders.

Virginia Allen Freeman 1926 - 2012  

Mrs. Virginia Allen Freeman was born in Irwin, Tennessee to Wert and Mabel Allen.  She grew up in the Appalachian Mountains surrounded by four siblings: Drusilla, Reginald, Linda and Louise.

The Carl M. Freeman Foundation announced the winners of its 2011 FACES grant cycle for Montgomery County nonprofit organizations. A total of $50,000 was awarded through the FACES (Freeman Assists Communities with Extra Support) program, which supports smaller organizations that are often overlooked by funders. The FACES program utilized an advisory board composed of Montgomery County community leaders, activists and residents who recommended where funding should be awarded based on the needs and priorities of the community.

In recent weeks, the Carl M. Freeman Foundation has welcomed 3 new members to its staff at the Selbyville, DE office. Those staff members include Sue Sevier as the new Administrative Associate, Robin Spangenberg as the new Operations Manager, and Bernadette Dowling as the new Accounting Manager. “The Carl M. Freeman Foundation’s impact is only greater now in the community with the addition of these dedicated staff members,” said Patti Grimes, Executive Director.
